Son, pray tell, if you're not going to wear a decent watch, why not scrap the ugly piece of shit you're currently wearing and just look at your phone for the time?

My old one broke... I currently got a £20 casio shit white plastic diving watch that is scratched to fuck.... it does the job... one of my MATES trades Rolex's on the side... I don't know that he makes much but it's his bit of fun....

My dad left me his 1961 Rolex Explorer. I absolutely love it and it means a lot to me. It costs £700 to service so I only do it once every five years or so. It is clockwork and self winds through movement. I am not sure what is worth but to me it is priceless. I have always loved Rolex watches and had a good hookey one years ago which I liked but it fell apart.

Have an old (2004?) and relatively affordable Omega Seamaster, the classic Connery Bond style. Apparently it's worth 30-40% more than I paid for it second-hand nearly a decade ago. Love the fact that punting out some money on a half-decent used watch is actually an investment.

Am angling to get a plain Panerai Luminor (PAM000 or similar) from late 90s early 00s at some point. Minimalist but love that look. Some of the pre-90s Panerai that were made for the Italian navy go for an absolute fortune.

I mean, who'd believe it? Working in Guernsey, for starters, then the madness of 2 blokes buying watches.

What a raconteur.

I dont own an expensive watch but a story re watches

I used to work as a contractor in Guernsey for 18 months.

Earned decent money and worked with a couple of young guys that every month bought an expensive watch rather than spend any money living on the island.

I had a wife and kids so couldnt really afford it, but a good investment for them

Blancpain was mainly the brand they bought

Seiko 5 Sports Automatic.

Black face, proper bezel for timing stages, watertight to 10 atmospheres, steal strap. Under 200 quid. Keeps the time, job done.
